If you're an early riser (or can be convinced to become one), the sunrise over the polder is absolutely spectacular. As the sun breaks the horizon, the sky transforms into a canvas of pinks, oranges, and golds reflected in the still waters. Evening brings equally stunning sunsets — perfect viewing from your garden with a glass of something nice.
For the curious and the active
Walking
Step right out onto the dike and into the bird sanctuary. Miles of walking paths wind through the polder, past meadows filled with grazing sheep and countless species of birds. The landscape changes with the seasons, but it's always beautiful.
Cycling
Bikes are available at Charmwood. Cycle through forests, heathlands, and polders. The routes connect to the beautiful villages of Laren and Blaricum, where you'll find charming cafés and excellent restaurants.
Dog Walking
Brought your four-legged friend? There are plenty of off-leash areas in the immediate surroundings. Many walking routes welcome dogs, and you'll find dog-friendly spots for coffee or lunch along the way.
Bird Watching
The protected bird breeding area right at the start of the dike is a haven for birdwatchers. Bring your binoculars and discover the incredible variety of species that call this place home throughout the year.
